Function Keys Fail from External Keyboard
January 10th, 2012

Century Software is not yet able to make the function and arrow keys on an external keyboard work with TinyTERM, whether it’s a Bluetooth or dock keyboard. It’s directly related to the way the keyboard presents itself to the iPad or iPhone.

There is no way to get those keys recognized by a terminal emulator at present. The same problem afflicts our competitors in testing. Making the keys work requires a change to iOS.

Add Script Language Support
December 30th, 2011

TinyTERM ITX has no support for scripting. Century Software has received a request to add that functionality.

Alternate Method for Deleting Configurations
December 30th, 2011

To delete a configuration in TinyTERM for iPad or TinyTERM ITX for iPhone, swipe a finger over it from left to right. However, this is not a method used by all apps for deleting configurations. Century Software has received a request to change the way configurations are deleted.

Passphrase Enhancements
December 30th, 2011

Century Software has received several suggested enhancements for the passphrase used by RSA and DSA keys:

1) Prompt for an optional passphrase when creating keys. When attempting to use the keys, prompt for that passphrase.

2) Optionally allow user, when entering their passphrase, to select to “remember this passphrase”, for “this session only” or “forever”.

3) Allow the user to delete a remembered passphrase.

4) Regardless of whether it is remembered or not, never display it. Use dots or similar to hide the passphrase when generating the RSA or DSA key.

Shift-Tab Acts As Tab
December 30th, 2011

In TinyTERM ITX for Mac, Shift-Tab acts identical to the Tab key. Note that this is also true when using telnet or SSH from an OS X command prompt, but not within the Terminal app.

CR 992

TinyTERM Loses Focus When Switching Applications
December 30th, 2011

TinyTERM 4.7.0 will lose focus from the emulator window when switching between Windows applications. The focus often goes to the address bar, so that hitting Enter will open a second session with the same connection information. If the address bar is turned off under Options | Global Preferences, this does not happen. But the focus is still lost.

Prior versions of TinyTERM do not exhibit this behavior.

CR 991, fixed in TinyTERM 4.7.1

Wyse60 Display Positioning Errors
December 30th, 2011

In a host application that uses extensive screen positioning and graphic font display for Wyse60 emulation, TinyTERM will eventually fail to display correctly. Sometimes switching to Wyse50 will fix the display issue, but not always.

CR 990, fixed in TinyTERM 4.7.1

Error Reading Private Key
December 30th, 2011

Configure an SSH connection for an RSA key on TinyTERM ITX for Mac. Add the public key to the host system. As soon as you try to connect, the message “Error reading private key” comes up. Password and keyboard-interactive both work.

CR 989

More Keys on Button Bar
December 30th, 2011

TinyTERM ITX includes an optional function key button bar that can be displayed below the emulator window. These keys act the same as the F1-F12 keys on a physical terminal.

This is particularly helpful on the Mac, since the function keys can be configured for many other uses in OS X. So can other non-alphanumeric keys. Century Software has received a request to add keys to that button bar, such as the Insert and Delete keys.

CR 988

Disable Scrollback
December 30th, 2011

TinyTERM for iPad has scrollback enabled at all times, available with a finger swipe. Century Software has received a request for an option to disable this capability.
